Fresh Kills is a wordless graphic novel in four acts that I am currently developing. The book follows the story of a young rat who at an early age is caught up in a life of crime in New York City. His world radically changes, however, when he is literally swept up in a street sweeper and whisked away to Fresh Kills Landfill on Staten Island. There he must determine who he is, what he wants from his life, and how he will get back home to save his family who are endangered by his absence.

This tale of redemption and renewal is a unique look at two of New York City’s greatest blights: rats and the Fresh Kills Landfill. Once the world’s largest landfill, Fresh Kills is now on track to become one of NYC’s largest parks, roughly 2.5 times larger than Central Park.
